Fighting back

Lonely at the top
For President Moshe Katsav and Chief of Staff Dan Halutz, these are difficult times. Yesterday afternoon, Halutz was grilled by the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee. But hardly anybody noticed Halutz said the Hizbollah was ‘religiously’ keeping the ceasefire and that since the ceasefire began, the IDF had not spotted any arms smuggling from Syria to Hizbollah in Lebanon. There was some attention paid to the statement that all Israeli troops would be out of Lebanon, as predicted, by Friday, the start of the Jewish New Year holidays, something that was confirmed today by Defense Minister Amir Peretz.
